Daniel Hex revisits moment I felt / BLUE with “serious” visual.
A year on from moment I felt / BLUE, Daniel Hex returns to one of its standout moments with the “serious” video, bringing fresh focus to a track that captures the sharper edge of his sound.
While much of the double album leans into introspection and slow burning emotion, “serious” cuts through with a more direct, rhythmic energy. The visual builds on that tension, adding a sense of immediacy and intention that reframes the track within the wider project.
Hex thrives on contrast. Across the album, he moves between the hazy vulnerability of “WISH!” and the guitar led intimacy of “DIFFERENTWORLD”, with “so serious” offering a confident, more confrontational pulse. That balance between softness and control continues to define his approach.
Over the past year, the Detroit artist has steadily built momentum, from rising streams to live shows alongside Leon Thomas and 070 Shake, while drawing attention from tastemakers watching the next wave of R&B.
The “serious” visual feels less like a retrospective and more like a reset, sharpening the identity of moment I felt / BLUE while hinting at what comes next.
Daniel Hex sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
When I was a baby. My dad would have me in the studio with him a lot. I also witnessed a lot of his tours/performances. On the other hand, my mom had the most eclectic music taste ever. Sitting in the backseat of her car gave me a lot of perspective on music. I’ve been hooked my entire life.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
I’ma try my best to narrow it down haha. I really wanna work with pinkpantheress, tyla & ice spice. I feel we would change club music forever. I wanna make the most beautiful music with Devin Morrison, Kelela, Blood Orange, and Frank Ocean. I also want to make the greatest songs of all time with Beyoncé. Oh, and I want to bring Rihanna out of retirement for one last summer anthem.
3.What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
Now I’ve releasedmoment I feltandBLUE, Im going to continue building my riddle. May 27th.
4. How would you describe your sound?
It’s nostalgic, and esoteric, ranges from very emo to very fun. It’s a lil bit of this and lil bit of that. I like it! It’s sexy and It all still remains R&B.
5. What’s your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
I’m proud of finding security in myself as a musician that is also a human. A lot of times we tie our self worth to what we make. I’ve relinquished that burden. I hope to see more artists do the same.
