Sheffield-based dark electronic duo IAmImperfecthave officially released their latest EP, Ghosts. Following their busy 2025 touring schedule, the new collection marks a deeply introspective turn for the project, exploring the psychological weight of living in the mid-2020s and the persistent “ghosts” of social pressure and burnout.
The EP is a sophisticated blend of darkwave, synth-pop, and industrial goth, defined by intricate synth arrangements and the soaring vocal harmonies of Paul Jackson alongside the distorted guitar work of Kelly Dorset. Lyrically, Ghosts delves into the struggle to maintain hope and identity as the world spirals, represented through tracks like “Surviving Is Not Living” and “The Fallen.” The band cites influences ranging from Depeche Mode and The Birthday Massacre to a touch of Iron Maiden’s melodic sensibility.
For the visual side of the release, the band collaborated with fellow Sheffield artists Stephen Carley and Scott D’arcy to create a series of haunting, double-exposed film photographs. This artistic synergy underscores the band’s roots in the South Yorkshire alternative scene, which they have championed since their emergence at the Ravenspurgh Music Festival in late 2023. Ghosts is available now across all major digital platforms.
Fans of heavy, atmospheric sounds should also check out the debut album from Seattle’s Telomyras.
