Based in Cashel, Ireland, “James Darcy” delivers heartfelt tones on “Before It’s Time to Leave”. The cinematic opening, with soft horns and a gentle piano tone, really welcomes you in with open arms, almost like seeing a friend again after a few years.

… a cinematic and emotionally rich folk track that quietly leaves a lasting mark.

His vocals are once again absolutely stunning, and how he has not got tens of thousands of plays on all of his tracks is actually beyond me. This is a stunningly captivating song with emotional vocals and pristine instrumentation.

Lifted from his latest EP, the song explores identity, memory, and emotional release with brutal honesty. The depth in this song is something to behold. It’s not been overproduced and has a perfect balance of vocals and stunning instrumentation, with some soaring strings added to the mix too.

As I mentioned, this is off his latest EP, and it sits as the midpoint of the release. If you like what you hear, be sure to check out the full release on Spotify, as this is one of the most understated EPs of the year. If you like your heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics with cinematic, folk, and acoustic sounds, then the song “Before It’s Time to Leave” is going to be everything you need and more.
