You see what he did there?

Multi-talented singer, songwriter, and musician Jim Keller is to release Vinylly!, a collection of 14 of his finest songs from the last 15 years, and his first-ever European vinyl release. Out today, May 29, the collection will be on Continental Song City Records. The album includes songs spanning Keller’s late-career renaissance, four decades after he and his band, Tommy Tutone, topped the US charts with 867-5309/Jenny. It’s available to order here.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Keller found fame after moving to San Francisco, where he launched Tommy Tutone in the late 1970s. Despite their meteoric rise, the band was short-lived, and Keller soon found himself in the proverbial wilderness, struggling to make ends meet until he talked his way into a job with famed composer Philip Glass. For the next 25 years, Keller would go on to run Glass’s publishing company, eventually managing his career outright in addition to working with luminaries like Tom Waits (who has said, “Listening to Jim Keller makes me feel like I have big plans and all my hair”), Ravi Shankar, and Rufus Wainwright.

In 2009, Keller returned to performing and recording withSunshine In My Pocket, the first in a series of critically acclaimed solo records. His latest album, 2025’s End of the World, spawned the hit Black Dog and has been riding the Americana charts since its release last October. In our review, we described the LP as: “Soul-infused rock with slick musicianship that conveys a timely message of hope.”

In an audacious piece of planning, Jim also features on this week’s podcast, well worth an hour of anybody’s time!
