Airbourne have revealed details of their new studio album.

Following 2019’s Boneshaker, the Aussie rockers’ forthcoming self-titled record will drop on August 28 via Spinefarm, with lead single Alive After Death (Last Plane Out) out now.

And frontman Joel O’Keeffe has gone into great detail about the making of the LP via a letter to none other than the late, great Lemmy, who once gave his band the advice to “stay to yourselves”, “don’t worry about all the other bullshit in the music industry” and to “make music that your roadies will like”.

“Mate, we did it,” writes Joel. “Six years ago, we shut the roller doors to everyone and got to work writing songs for this record, spending many, many hours, many days, weeks months and years writing and writing, throwing things out, starting again, and always sifting for gold.”

Joel goes on to shout-out the many personnel who helped bring Airbourne to life – including Mutt Lange and Bryan Adams who co-wrote a couple of songs, “rock’n’roll street poet” Vick Wright, songwriter and producer Brian Howes, Spinefarm legend Dante Bonutto, Mike Fraser, Karl Dicaire, Craig Harnath, Zakk Cervini and Ted Jensen – and describes how, when it was all done, “We finally ripped off the Band-Aid and mustered up the balls to play it to the roadies… And guess what? They love this one! Thank fuck! Only took us 20 years!

“Thanks again for all of your words back then mate. We’ve never forgotten them and we wouldn’t be here without ya. We’ll always keep you Alive After Death. Rock on, Lem.”
