French alt-emo band Paerish are ready to make a statement withtheir new single ‘Wait For Dark’, out today via SideOneDummy Records. And it’s a heavy one. Once again working with Grammy-winning producer Will Yip, Paerish have really focused down on what makes for a vibrant live show and distilled those visceral elements onto record. The result is an onslaught of riffs, driving rhythm and emotion.

“Sometimes in life and at work, you come across people who make it quite clear that they don’t like you—which isn’t a problem in itself,”pontificates vocalist and guitarist Mathias Court.“But occasionally, those people will go out of their way to harm you or prevent you from living your life normally. The reasons vary, and so do the lies. Wait for Dark is about a confrontation with one of these individuals, the search for a motive, and the bitterness and jealousy involved. The protagonist expresses a mix of exhaustion and anger toward the whole situation, simply wanting to move forward and leave it behind. It’s a darker track than what we usually do, but also more energetic and more focused on a live feel—which is very much the main direction of our new album.”

With longtime collaborator (and now firm friend) Will Yip behind the desk for the yet-to-be-announced new Paerish album, the band decamped to the producer’s brand new studio in downtown Philadelphia, even spending Christmas and New Year’s away from their homes and their families. Paerish’s working relationship with Yip spans almost their entire discography as he mastered their debut (2016’s ‘Semi Finalists’) and has now produced the subsequent three full lengths. The result of their close relationship and everything that has led Paerish to this point, is a full crystallisation of who Paerish are, but also a further evolution of their sound. Stay tuned for further news of Album Number Four.

    Paerish are:

Mathia Court – vocals / guitar

    Frédéric Wah – guitar

    Martin Dupraz – bass

    Loïc Fouquet – drums
