Amsterdam four piece RADIOHOP continue to blur the lines between jazz, hip hop, and improvisation with their latest single, “Spooky Town.” It’s the fourth preview of their upcoming album Hard to Handle, and it lands with intent.

Originally described by the band as a “beat tape,” the 12 track project goes beyond that. Hard to Handle is raw, loud, and unfiltered, built on groove, texture, and instinct rather than polish. It arrives digitally, but feels made for vinyl, where its weight and grit hit hardest.

After relocating to Amsterdam around 2020 to study jazz, the group quickly became part of the city’s thriving scene, connecting with collectives like Steppin’ Into Tomorrow and Super-Sonic Jazz. Their shared background in improvisation and beat-making shapes a sound rooted in collaboration, with no egos, just feel.

That chemistry defines Hard to Handle. RADIOHOP operate as a single unit, crafting music through experimentation, deep listening, and intuition.

Alongside their own work, they’ve backed artists like Soul Supreme and Juju Rogers, while keyboardist Joshua Lutz explores similar ground in his solo project Halfpastseven.

With “Spooky Town,” RADIOHOP double down on their approach, stripped back, groove-heavy, and fully their own.
