‘The Day of Execution’ is the latest gift from French trio Slift as they amp up the anticipation for their upcoming album ‘Fantasia’

Today exhilarating the French heavy psychedelic rock bandshare a second single from their forthcoming album‘Fantasia’, which is set for release onFriday, June 5th, 2026 worldwide from Sub Pop. Along with the single they have announced more headline and festival dates, including a UK run in December.

A moth knight descends the endless steps of “Fantasia” in the new animated lyric video for SLIFT’s pummelling epic “The Day of Execution,” directed by Ben Amos Cooper. The song is a tempestuous cacophony– one of the most electrifying moments fromtheir forthcoming album, which sees the band distill their sorcery into their leanest, most direct offering to date.

SLIFT sayof the song and visual:“’The Day Of Execution’ is about the effect of time passing on each and every one of us, and about memory loss. It portrays the nostalgia that creeps into us as time goes by. Fantasia is such an ancient city that it no longer remembers itself, and this gradually alienates its inhabitants.”

The new single comes as the band add another wave of headline and festival dates, which will see the band bringing their famously intense and cathartic live show to close out the year with a UK run.

As they mark the end of 2026 with a run of four UK shows, it signifies the statement of intent SLIFT have put into working their craft into their upcoming album ‘Fantasia’. ‘The Day of Execution’ is only a taster of what’s to come on SLIFT’s fourth studio album and when it releases on June 5th, it will leave fans plenty to be excited for when they debut these tracks live on this run.
