Well, this is new. This Northampton-based band who formed in 2023 are here with their debut EP, and straight away I can hear this has many influences from the get-go! Here I can hear punk, rock, and thrash influences from the likes of “No Time”.
Then in comes “Out of Reach”, the title track, which has a dirty, sweaty feel to it. You can imagine nodding your head along in a tiny gig packed to the rafters enjoying the buzz and grooves, with the band up close and personal enjoying their music and the energy from the crowd.
“Alien” for me has that twitchy groove of Stone Temple Pilots and sings about, I guess, feeling like an alien in the world around you and finding your place there.
“By Disassociation” has a long intro and builds and builds, letting the tension get under your skin before—wham—it hits you with a meaty riff; undoubtedly the heaviest song on the EP. Then it drifts like a stoner rock desert landscape/soundscape, perfect for a warm summer night’s drive with friends chatting and laughing and loads of banter, or by yourself to clear your head if you can’t sleep.
“Reprise” is a raw explosion of emotions. It feels like you’ve had a heavy, stressful week and you stand out in some woods and just scream—scream at the world and release all those tensions and knots.
Altogether, it’s a banging mixed bag of new band filthy goodness!
