Vermont-based metalcore powerhouse Saving Vice has officially returned with their highly anticipated new single, “The Shadow”, released worldwide via Arson Theory. Known for a sound that effortlessly bridges the gap between crushing heaviness and cinematic atmosphere, the band’s latest offering is a melodic yet undeniably raw statement that solidifies their standing in the modern metalcore landscape.

“The Shadow” serves as a thematic bridge between the band’s past and present. According to the group, the song is a direct callback to their roots, weaving together narrative threads from their previous album and singles to conclude a story that originally began with “Good Days, Dead Eyes”. Lyrically, the track explores the nuances of human nature, moving away from a binary view of morality to embrace the balance between light and dark. “True power and self-actualisation is accepting both sides,” the band notes.

Guitarist and producer Robbie Litchfield aimed to “scratch every itch” with this composition, incorporating a massive breakdown, an epic chorus, and an emotional bridge. While the track leans into the nostalgia of late-2000s metalcore, the production remains progressive and fresh. Since their formation in 2017, the independent outfit has built a reputation for high-energy live shows and a fierce DIY ethic, tackling heavy subject matter like addiction and loss with unapologetic honesty.

The band is currently preparing to bring their intense live performance to the stage for a run of US dates this summer. Check out our recent coverage of other modern metal heavyweights here.
