Nashville native Maisy Owen has announced the release of her debut album Dark On A Sunny Day on 1st May 2026 via Tompkins Square. Owen will be performing a gig at London’s Theatreship on 23rd June 2026 to introduce her songs to a London audience.

Owen has been surrounded by music and the art of songcraft most of her life (she’s 23). She played the viola from the age of nine, then took up the guitar where she embraced fingerpicking, soaking in influences from Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, Mazzy Star and David Olney. Her father Gwil Owen is an Academy Award-nominated songwriter.

Owen’s sound, described as “musical truth and stirring vocals”, is at the heart of the eight songs that comprise Dark On A Sunny Day. The album was produced by Robin Eaton (known for his work with Jill Sobule). Noticeably more folkie than the sounds generally associated with Nashville, Owen has been drawn to melancholic melodies and dark poetic imagery. She has drawn comparisons to Vashti Bunyan and Anne Briggs amongst others.

Her first single, My Youth Is All For You was released as a 7” and gave Owen a chance to explore her visual side / love for abandoned houses with an accompanying video which you can see below.

Tickets for the London show, where Owen will be accompanied by Joe Harvey-White and the legendary BJ Cole can be found at this link.
