Trans What You Will Theatretoday announces – onTrans Day Of Visibility– thatElliot Page, the Oscar-nominated star ofJuno, Inceptionand the upcomingChristopher Nolanadaptation ofThe Odyssey, is to introduce a landmark production ofShakespeare’s As You Like Itthis July – performed entirely by an all-trans and non-binary cast and creative team.

Page will join live fromNew Yorkto open the premiere on the eve ofLondon Trans+ Pride,24 July 2026atThe Space TheatreinLondon, which will simultaneously be livestreamed to a global audience. A production ofTwelfth Nightwill also be staged inBarcelonaon1st Augustwith both productions being livestreamed in New York, marking the first time the company has taken its work outside of the UK.

Elliot Page(he/him) said:“Shakespeare wrote characters who defy easy categories long before we had language for it – and that feels as relevant now as it ever has. Trans What You Will is proving that these stories have always belonged to us, and I’m honored to support that work. Can’t wait to share this with an audience.”

The production is organised by Trans What You Will Theatre and The Space Theatre, London, and runs across three nights – previews on 22 and 23 July, and the premiere on 24 July 2026. A matinee will be offered exclusively to LGBTQ+ under-25s and youth groups across London.

It follows the sell-out success of Trans What You Will Theatre’s debut production in July 2025: a rehearsed reading of Twelfth Night, opened bySir Ian McKellen, which sold over 2,300 tickets and raised £8,000 for trans charityNot a Phase. Also taking place on the eve of London Trans+ Pride, it was widely celebrated as a landmark moment for trans and non-binary representation in British theatre.

As You Like It – Shakespeare’s comedy of cross-dressing, mistaken identity and desire unbound by gender – offers equally rich territory. The 2026 production builds on the same ethos: trans and non-binary artists at the centre of the story, with a cast and creative team that reflects the full diversity of those communities across ethnicity, disability and socioeconomic background.

Phoebe Kemp(they/them), the director of both productions, says:“I am delighted to be back directing another of Shakespeare’s gendery plays for Trans What You Will! I am so excited to dive into all the queerness and gender exploration within As You Like It. The trans community is still facing worsening oppression worldwide, and the opportunity to counter that with joy is an honour. Can’t wait to share with you all what we create!”.

Tickets for evening performances and the global livestream are now live and available on a sliding scale to maximise accessibility.Remaining matinee seats will be offered via a free lottery for under 25s, following priority allocation to LGBTQ+ youth organisations across London.
