Matt Hansen returns with VISION. A final pre-album release that channels uncertainty into forward motion. Closing the pre-release phase, VISION keeps the delivery tight. Clear vocal lead, message-first writing, and an open-ended arc that mirrors Orchid’s core: vulnerability and self-correction. Scale is already locked. 1B+ streams, 6M monthly Spotify listeners, 3M TikTok followers, built independently. Catalogue anchors (Something to Remember, LET EM GO, yellowstone, DON’T LOOK BACK, COMPASS) feed into the 18-track album, consolidating reach while extending the narrative. At album level, Orchid holds a cohesive line. Relationship fallout, dependency, and recovery told through direct, lived detail, with sequencing that builds…

Manchester’s grimmest weekend, Offal Fest 2026, has announced a change of scenery. The festival will no longer be taking place at The Bread Shed and is instead moving over to Boundary (part of The Union) this July. The move was a bit of a forced hand due to some internal maintenance issues at the original spot, but it’s turned out to be a bit of a result. The new home is only about a five-minute walk from the old one, but it comes with a proper state-of-the-art sound system and, more importantly, a massive increase in capacity. The organisers, Rancid Offal…

Photo by Abby GillardiIn a nod to Woody Guthrie, a 2014 American Songwriter magazine cover featured Hurrah For The Riff Raff with the strapline, “Bound for Glory”. I’m not sure how the author of that article defined glory, yet several albums and years of live appearances later, it appears that Hurray For The Riff Raff are finally getting the recognition they deserve. With nine studio albums to their credit, they have just released Live Forever, their first live album, a celebration of how far this band has come. The story of Hurray For The Riff Raff is very much that of…

Simon Goddard “Bowie Odyssey 76! (Omnibus 2025)Published by Omnibus – out nowSimon Goddard’s books tracing Bowie’s life and music from 1970 onwards are essential reading for any serious Bowie fan. In addition, the books are characterised by some very sharply observed digressions into the history and feel of the times.I can genuinely say I’ve been looking forward to this latest Bowie Odyssey book since reviewing the last one here a year ago. So here we are, 50 years on from 1976 – the hottest summer for years (pre climate change anyway), only 3 tv channels, the first stirrings of punk,…

Towards the end of his time in Can, Irmin Schmidt purchased a plot of land near Roussillon in south-eastern France as a rural retreat. Strange, sprawling and nestling in the vineyard landscape of the Luberon like a brutalist Minoan palace, Les Rossignols has been their home ever since. Les Rossignols is ‘the Nightingales’,…

Black Veil Brides have unveiled a new single, Revenger, featuring the mighty Machine Head. The brilliantly heavy collab is taken from BVB’s upcoming album Vindicate – which is due out on May 8 via Spinefarm – and frontman Andy Biersack reveals, perhaps unsurprisingly, that it’s one of his favourites from the LP. “I have always been interested in the sort of ethical dilemma that we have culturally of cheering for justice,” Andy begins. “I thought it would be an interesting exercise to write lyrics from the perspective of someone who is trying to seek out the ultimate form of justice.…

The earlier book was “set in a ramshackle twentieth century New York world of homemade clubs and bands, through love affairs, temp jobs and motherhood, Girl To City describes the screw-ups and charmed moments it took for a girl in the crowd at CBGB to pick up a guitar and sing her truth on stage, creating an identity as an artist back when female musician role models were still rare. For anyone who ever imagined trying to make a life out…

From erotic thrillers to bruising relationship dramas, these are the films that use sex, desire and intimacy as part of the drama rather than a shortcut to attention. Most films get called “adult” for the wrong reasons. A few explicit scenes, a little scandal, the promise of danger — and that is usually enough for the label to stick. But the films that last are rarely the ones that simply show more. They are the ones that understand what sex does to a scene, to a relationship, to a power balance, to a person’s sense of themselves. That is the…

Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic has finally arrived — and if you stuck around past the final scene, you already know this story is just getting started. A production that cost a fortune before a single reshoot Nobody expected this one to come cheap. Music rights alone push any Jackson project into a different budget tier, and on top of that, the film had to physically rebuild some of the most famous concerts in pop history from the ground up. The original price tag was $155 million — serious money for a biopic, but arguably justifiable given the scale. Then…
