Melancholic Punk, the solo project of Romanian artist Doru Trascău based in Bucharest. “New Song” is a quietly powerful folk offering with some raw vocals and a delicate balance of guitars and smooth percussion.

… arestrained yet powerful folk track defined by raw, precise vocals and quietly captivating emotion.

The build-up is delicate, and once his vocals come in, you are sure to be stopped in your tracks. His vocals sound more like someone from the United States, not someone who is based out of Romania, with perfect pronunciation of every word on the track. It’s quite a serene song with a restrained feel, never getting too big and never getting out of control. It keeps itself at a delightful pace and has charming moments dotted throughout.

With only three previous singles released, he is certainly an artist who sounds like he is going to be making a name for himself. So if you like delightfully smooth, crisp, and raw vocals on your folk music, then you need to listen to Melancholic Punk as soon as you can because he is a gem waiting to be discovered.
